Donor Promise
Donor Bill of Rights
Effective April 25, 2026
Philanthropy is built on trust between donors and the organizations they support. Flexion Foundation (a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit, EIN 33-3252902) adopts the Donor Bill of Rights developed by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Giving Institute. Every donor has the following rights:
To be informed of the organization's mission, the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization's governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements and IRS Form 990 on request.
To be assured your gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given, including any donor-imposed restriction on a specific program.
To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition, and to opt out of any public recognition without consequence to your gift.
To be assured that information about your donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law. Your information is never sold, rented, or traded.
To expect that all relationships with individuals representing the Foundation will be professional in nature.
To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization, or hired solicitors.
To have the opportunity for your name to be deleted from mailing lists that the organization may intend to share.
To feel free to ask questions when making a donation, and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.
How to exercise these rights
Send any question, request, or complaint to donate@flexionfoundation.org. Common requests we handle the same business day:
- Anonymous gift. Add a note on the gift form or mention it in your email. Your name will not appear in any public recognition.
- Remove me from mailings. One sentence by email and you are removed from solicitations within 24 hours.
- Send my Form 990 or determination letter. We email it to you the same day.
- Tell me what my last gift funded. We pull the allocation record and reply with the specific program-level detail.
- Refund a recent gift. We honor refund requests made within seven days for any reason.
Restricted gifts
When a gift is restricted to a specific program, those funds are used only for that program. If a program is fully funded, discontinued, or otherwise unable to use the funds for their intended purpose, we will contact you to redesignate the gift to another program of your choice or, if you prefer, to refund it.
Solicitor disclosure
All current outreach for Flexion Foundation is conducted by Foundation volunteers, board members, and staff. We do not use paid third-party solicitors. If this changes, we will disclose the relationship before any solicitation.
